We use simple, anonymous visitor statistics to see which pages help people and where we can improve the website. We use GoatCounter for this. No cookies are placed and we do not create personal visitor profiles.
What we measure
We only measure the number of viewed pages, the referring website, the country, and general screen widths. This helps us understand, for example, whether the site is mostly used on mobile and whether visitors come from the Netherlands or elsewhere. We do not send search parameters, form data, contact details, page titles, or click events. Browser, operating system, language, city, region, and individual page views are disabled.
How GoatCounter works
GoatCounter stores aggregated counts. To avoid counting repeat visits twice, GoatCounter temporarily uses the combination of website, IP address, and browser information in memory for up to eight hours. The IP address, full browser information, and recognizable visitor code are not stored. The IP address is also used temporarily only to determine the country. GoatCounter uses no cookies or browser storage.
Legal basis and retention
We use these limited statistics based on our legitimate interest in understanding the quality and effectiveness of the website. In our assessment, this setup falls under the Dutch exception for privacy-friendly analytics. Aggregated counts remain available during the trial and are deleted if we stop using GoatCounter. Deleted data may remain in backups for up to thirty days.
Provider and questions
GoatCounter is managed from Ireland and stores data on Hetzner servers in Finland and Germany. If you have questions or object to this use, email us at info@thuisinepe.nl. Because the statistics are not linked to people, we cannot retrieve or delete individual visit data.
