Dumile

I am Dumile from the Kingdom of Eswatini. I’m learning every day how to choose myself. 

I come from a place where community is everything, and I carry that with me. Spirituality is one of my core values — it keeps me grounded and reminds me that I am always surrounded by Agape love.

I’m passionate about people. A genuine love for people is what makes me wear my smile. I love listening to stories, music, good jokes, and small acts of kindness. 

My ambition is to work, build a peaceful and kind life for myself, and to help others do the same.

I worry about unfairness, loneliness, and people having to shrink themselves to be loved. I value honesty and integrity in my relationships.  But I’m learning that I can’t fix everyone, and that’s okay.

I met the Thuis in Epe volunteers at Fletcher Hotel. I joined them wanting to learn Dutch, but I received so much more. They welcomed me with warmth and no judgment. They taught me how to ride a bicycle. They invited me into their homes to chat. They make things lighter for me. They make me feel courage, joy, and a sense of integration.

I am still becoming. Sometimes it’s hard, sometimes it’s beautiful. But I’m here, I’m showing up, and I’m choosing me.
